WHAT IS GEAR UP?

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a partnership between the University of California, Riverside, Pomona Unified School District, and the City of Pomona.

 

MISSION

To increase the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in college.


PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • Increase academic/preparation for college.
  • Increase high school graduation rates and college prep activities.
  • Increase students’ and their families knowledge of educational options, college preparation, and financial aid.

 

SERVICES


The following services will be offered to students:

  • Tutoring
  • Academic Advising
  • Financial Aid Counseling
  • Summer Residential Programs
  • Cultural Field Trips
  • College/University Tours

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The graduating class of 2014 and their parents.  Specifically, the
7th grade students from Fremont, John Marshall, and Simons Middle Schools who will attend Ganesha and Garey High Schools.
